Mara (Dolichotis patagonum) is a species of rodents of the family Cavidés as common guinea pigs, although its appearance is reminiscent of hares. This mammal is endemic to Argentina and classified in the IUCN Red List as "Near Threatened". After the capybara and the beaver, the mara is the third largest living rodent.

I think you have identified an animal for me, that I took a picture of at a zoo here in Ohio a few years ago. I had forgotten what it was. It sure looks nice and comfortable there. Excellent shot.

It does look like a short eared rabbit, Christian.
Hard to believe it is considered a rodent.
Good shot.
