Leatherjackets of grassland (Tipula paludosa), commonly called "cousin" or "fly-daddy" is a dipterous insect of the family tipulid, resembling a mosquito with very long legs. This is however not a biting insect.

Over here the common name is Crane Fly. Ours are a little darker & thinner through the body.
