The Hohe Tauern, the highest range of the Alps east of the Brenner Pass, includes the highest mountains in Austria. The range is part of the Central Eastern Alps. It is in the Austrian states of Salzburg, Carinthia, and East Tyrol - with a small part in the Italian South Tyrol. The mountain Grossglockner is a part of it, but not the mountain on this image - I do not really know, which one I captured here. But since we will visit this place again next year, I will hopefully find out.

Looks more like smoke than clouds and it's interesting that it should settle there with only one other small cloud in the sky. Beautiful clarity and colors.

This is a beautiful shot. I love the way the little wisps of clouds are clinging to the peak.

Even clouds get tired. It's taking a break on mountain peak. That really gives perspective on this photo. Great view and clarity is great Sabine.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

Such an absolutely amazing shot! Lovely colors and composition. Think that Tick might be right about the cloud being tired. LOL

Only high mountains form/create their own weather and the start of that clearly shows. Imagine beeing a mountaineer climbing this one (must be nearly 4km high) for hours and hours, and then... having no view down. At least we got our view thanks to this posting.
