Getreidegasse is a busy shopping street in the Old Town section of Salzburg. The house at no. 9 Getreidegasse is where the famed Wolfgang Mozart was born and lived until he was 17. Originalled called Trabegasse (derived fronm Traben - to trot) its name was changed several times to create the odd Cereal Street (literal translation of Getreidegasse). It is a law in Salzburg to designate shops by hanging iron signs over the store.

Nice shot Sabine. I actually get the feeling I'm shopping. The iron sign is a good rule. Think I'll stay close to the shops, looks like a storm is brewing. That is a gorgeous sky.

Yes I remember this well Sabine - my shots were not good enough to post from this angle! Love those hanging street signs and the way the rockface and buildings just loom up at the end of the streets! Excellent capture!

I really like the detail and bright color in here. The deep blue of the sky makes the yellow/tan buildings stand out. A great street scene and a wonderful historical note on Mozart.
