Yup, I recognize a pond when I see one:):)Found this last month while taking a short hike a few miles from home. The top of the water is completely covered with a layer of some kind of mossy/lichen/plant overgrowth and it looks solid.....sort of:):) A family was there visiting at the same time and there dog was swimming in it! Occasionally a frog would leap right out from just under the surface and land a foot away or so! It was very difficult to see them until they hopped:) Enjoy.

T'is a lovely scene, Bruce. Can't say I'd find swimming an option, but sounds great for frog pictures as well.

Interesting find ... I wouldn't be swimming in it and neither would my dog. However it's a great shot , I like the colors.

I'm glad however that it's pure natural, Bruce, and not chemical waste. Think that the frogs may use this as a kind of camouflage for egrets, and so on. Think that the dog which was swimming is this pond, needs an extensive shower to be cleaned-up.

Nice capture!

Regards, Cornelius.

I did some research and I am 99% sure the plant life on top of this pond is Azolla or commonly called Water Fern.. More can be found here:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Azolla

I saw a movie where a cowboy died from drinking from a watherhole like this BB. Of course it was just a movie and it was in B/W.

An interesting looking pond, looks almost like the moss that grows in the mires here in Sweden. I like the colors and it is a very sharp and clear photo.

That's quite the algae bloom you have there, Bruce. Looks like they have a red tide on the far shore. An interesting scene and fine capture, Bruce. Good lighting and colours in the shot.

Wow, this looks a lot like the cranberry bog that I saw on the Cape in March! There was no greenery, of course.
