This wonderful tree is located here in Walnut Creek just about 1.25 miles west of our place. I couldn't get the entire tree in the picture because I was underneath part of it:):) The part you see here is on the ground because it broke away from the main trunk but was still attached enough that it never went without nourishment:) Located here: WW76+3C Walnut Creek, California

I was stationed 60 miles north of Los Angeles in the early 1970s, at a periodic home port a little south of Ventura, but got no closer to Frisco than a short stop at Travis AFB, once on my way to Japan. Here in North Dakota our severe climate holds the growth of many trees and plants either to a minimum or not at all. For example, we have nothing like kudzu here and the only oaks like this that I have seen were in states like Mississippi and Louisiana. So it is fascinating to see how the branches grow so long that they require the ground to support them. One I previously saw had steel posts holding up a fan of branches around a single tree. I gotta save any fave this one. Danke, spaciba, merci, asante, obrigado!

Bruce, to me, Mother Nature has created her own contemporary artwork. Has cost her 'some' time to create this natural 'sculpture', but the result is magic.
Good find and good capture from you, Buddy. Very well done!
