From a Google search of Lighthouse lens: "The Fresnel lens (pronounced "Frey Nel"), as it came to be known, represented a monumental step forward in lighthouse lighting technology, and therefore also in maritime safety. In a Fresnel lens, hundreds of pieces of specially cut glass surround a lamp bulb." This reminded me of this particular type of glass used in lighthouses:) Enjoy if you can.

We traveled across Michigan^s upper peninsula in the summer of 2001, and climbed the 65-foot lighthouse tower of Point Iroquois Lighthouse, located near Brimley, and overlooking Whitefish Bay and far eastern Lake Superior. These transparent and hard-edged overlapping shapes you have here, Bruce, look just like the layered glass I saw at the top of that tower. The only real difference is that the glass was picking up the color of the mid-afternoon sun, although I am quite sure that if you were to sit up there and wait until sunset, the glass would pick up those colors as well, including purple as the light started leaving the sky.

I did not have a proper camera in 2001, a couple months before 9-11, so I have no photos of that trip worth submitting and sharing here, but after we get our camper in 2022 or 23, I would love to revisit that trip (that is, if one can still safely travel America then, considering the difficult political climate right now).

Stay safe and happy trails.

Bruce, if lighthouses would have had a Fresnel lens like the wonderful one depicted by you in your render, it would pose a threat instead of safety (😁). In my former career perhaps then I would be mesmerized by it, with the possibility that my ship could have been stranded, causing a premature end to my career (😢).
Happily this hasn't happened, so that I can fully enjoy now your special creation, Buddy!
