I was watching that new TV series tonight "The Terror" about the tragic expedition of Sir John Franklin to find the northwest passage. I was in Gjoa Haven last year, a community near where the wrecks of the Terror and the Erebus were recently discovered. Here's a modern day street scene for you.

It almost looks like Barrow and certainly shows how humans live on the land there, at the mercy of the vagaries of the weather, rather than as a part of it.

It is hard to imagine about 1300 people living there, above the Arctic Circle. I do not do "cold" well and am pretty sure I would not be a candidate for Gjoa Haven citizenship.

However, since the name Gjoa Haven translates to, "lots of fat," I may qualify due to the appropriateness to the Gjoa name I can exhibit with my presence and the shadows I can cast.

Like Tick, I am now interested in seeing the program due to your picture.

Amazing the way the people live so far north and giving us a great view of their daily lives there. The ski-do the way to get around indeed
