Interesting shot and info Jimbob. The poor guard! He was in no condition to keep guarding after half an hour already!

Checked-out the link. Very interesting story Jimbob. I'm however not capable to fulfil the request in editing the article, lol. Think you can better do an attempt, as you already have an approriate and very good image available.
Regards, Cornelius.

Thanks for supplying the history. I read it with much interest. Were you able to go inside and if so, did they allow photos?

Jimbob - The person for whom this fort was named was born just a few miles from where I live. To my knowledge, the house and property of his birthplace are not known. That stated, you captured (if that is the correct term here) the fort well in this photo. I like the angle you chose to show one corner with the stockade fence and defenses. Thad

A wonderful presentation Jethro. I can't believe someone froze to death while on guard duty. I felt a little sorry for Colonel Dudley. He must have been Do Wrong.
Excellent FDR on this baby.

Neat history on this site and fortunately for us it is accompanied by an even neater photograph. Is there a worn looking sepia re-work of this in our future? That would be cool -

How wonderfully neat and kept up it is. Almost too much. So perfect. But I love the simplicity of your photo. Makes is so nice to just ponder on. Verena

Nice looking short Jim. The dry grass line in the foreground sets up the view nicely and makes the fort inaccessible ;)

It's kept up so well! It would be so cool to see a reenactment, have you been privledged to witness one? If you haven't seen it, I recommend the TNT mini-series, "Into the West". Fantastic story of pioneers and Native Americans.
