I was about 100 yards off shore walking on Lake Erie to get this shot yesterday. It's the first time in my life that I had walked on a frozen lake. It was cold, but it was fun! In the distance is Cedar Point Theme Park.
Jimbob - While the prolonged cold weather has been trying, there is an upside - the opportunity to see places from a different perspective. Yesterday, I was in the northern part of my little state and the Connecticut River was fully frozen over and snow covered there. After captured this scene, either you uploaded the image via phone transfer, or you made it safely back to shore. :-)
Apparently the ice was thick enough! Was it officially allowed for walking? Here there are some strict rules for that - The ice must a certain thickness etc. Nice capture of the wobbly surface and the scene Jimbob.

We keep hearing news about North Americas extreme weather Jimbob! it's hard for me to imagine as Bristol has had no snow and it very rarely drops below 38 degrees. Lol
Okay cheekiness aside a great image! I didn't realise Lake Erie was so close to the Arctic Circle. ;o)
LOL Global warming has been but partial - applies only to our hemisphere LOL Here we have crocuses and new green grass, plain grass I mean LOL Seriously, I am waiting to see more of those wires in the background :) SAM & SAAB
I hope you had someone with you or a rope tied to a tree JimboB. The conditions gave you a perfect photo opportunity to get this shot that resembles a futuristic city like SEA previously mentioned. One of your very best. I downloaded it, and did a quick b/w white which I think adds a lot to highlight the conditions.
This is a great shot Jimbob!!! Everything in your image is frozen in time which gives it an errie feel but a totally cool feel as well. The "amusement skyline" takes on the quality of a science fiction movie!!! It won't be too long before the lake is liquid and you can hear the excitment from the crowds flocking to the amusement park. well Done!!!
that looks amazing to me, a real winterpicture ..... we do not have frozen lakes here very often, must be years ago when it happened last time, a great capture also of the vastness of a flat countryside .... Ro
A great shot JimBob - I recognized Cedar Point immediately. I heard 80 per cent of our Great Lakes area are frozen right now. Wait til "Break up" - You can all pretend You are living in Alaska.
