The Hardrock Casino & Resort Punta Cana , Dominic Republic The Dominic Republic is the most visited destination in the Caribbean and the second largest economy in the Caribbean and Central American region . Outside the walls of these beautiful resorts surrounded by razor wire for guests safety lays a country with a high poverty rate , high unemployment , high crime, drug trafficking tied to the Colombia drug cartel , human trafficking and according to the US Labor department a major problem of child labor in its rice , coffee and sugarcane industries . The labor injustices extends to forced labor as well affecting all ages . One would never know this exists outside of these resorts unless you talk to some of the workers at the resorts . One does get a hint of this when you are told not to leave the resort due to it being unsafe . Within the walls of the resorts a different world within a country that finds many parents struggling not only to feed their children but to keep them safe as well . Seeing these people especially the children from a bus to and from the airport broke my heart and I thank God for the blessings that Dan and I have been given.

Even though the socialist post war dream is dying in Europe, we still have so much to be grateful for. A fine, & thought provoking upload Marsha.

One half of the world has no idea how the other half lives, JenNay.
Actually the percentages are probably more skewed then this.
We are a lucky bunch.
Photo is really good but the thought of what is lurking takes away from the beauty.

Such a contrast of life! This is such a nice clear, and well composed image. I have heard that about Mexico as well. A friend of mine went there many years ago, and said the place they stayed at on the beach was so lovely, and all you had to do was walk to the other side of it, and the real world set it in. I was there (Santo Domingo) a long time ago with a ship Marsha. It was quite bad at that time too. Beautiful tropical scene in this nice capture.

Marsha, your image and narrative are very contrary. The first shows a luxury world, the latter however is the cruel reality in the Dominic Republic. Things aren't divided honestly in this world.
Most of the times the poor children are the real victims!

Regards, Cornelius.

Thanks for Posting Reality as it really is Marsha.

It simply a matter of the Have and Have Nots.

You know most Americans think of Thanksgiving as a Day to watch Football and Eat to their Hearts content. These are the same people who would NOT know reality if it hit them Square in the Face.
