Almost unique in the world, The Moeraki Boulders . . . "According to Maori tradition, the boulders are gourds and calabashes, which is traditional Maori food, washed from the great voyaging canoe Araiteuru when it was wrecked upon landfall in New Zealand some 1000 years ago." Click the link for the geological explanation :) I have several more shots including two being 'born' which I will post at a later date, if anyone would be interested?

Lyn, I think Bob is in need for new spectacles or he is probably still sleepy after his fourth nap this day. I understand his comment as this 'mermaid' is not a nice place for a snooze (lol). Now serious: again a beautiful and interesting image. Regards, Cornelius

This shot would look great on that web site you linked us to above. It's better than most of them. What amazing stones they are and so old. No wonder people come here just to see these.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

This is a really enjoyable picture just in itself, and your link to the explanation of its formation is interesting as well. I'll be delighted to see more of these "critters".
