Another view of Lake Waiholataken from a different angle - this one required wet feet :) . This 9 sq km tidal freshwater lake is 15km north of Milton in Otago,South Island,NZ, and is surrounded by wetlands, including the internationally renowned and protected Sinclair Wetlands which are the home to many species of wading birds. . . In the Central Otago goldrush days of the 1860's ships traveled up the Taieri River and across to the southern side of the lake where prospectors would head for the hills and on to Gabriel's Gully .The name Waihola, a southern Maori word means "spreading waters". . .Panasonic DMC-FZ7. Thanks for viewing - I appreciate and welcome any comments, advice, and opinions :)
