Today we needed to travel to Dunedin. This stretch of State Highway One leads into the city. It is a 5 km stretch known as 'The Kilmog', 300m above sea level. This morning the road was covered in snow and extreme care was advised, but lucky for us by 2.45pm it was all cleared.
Tomorrow's forecast is for gales up to 130kmh along the coast. This is Spring! Today red tulips opened their petals in my garden, so it must be Spring.

*The name Kilmog is thought to be a corruption of the Southern Māori word kirimoko, kilimoko or kilimogo, the name of a species of manuka tree.

Taken through the car windscreen with Panasonic FZ28. I used Topaz Simplify to try and give a slight painted effect but not sure if it has worked very well.

Lyn, you're the lucky one! Think I'll move to the southern hemisphere, because at the start of our Fall season, there was a serious drop in temperatures. Yesterday the people could swim on our beaches, but today they needed a jacket.

Very nice capture of 'The Kilmog'. Well done my friend.

Regards, Cornelius.

Snow in March/ beginning of April is not so unusual here also Lyn. Nice capture including the snow covered top and the green below.

We always have a little snow in Spring so that is not surprising but that level of wind sound horrendous - an excellent shot but I agree I don't see the painting effect much.

Nice work, Eve. The varied shades of Green give great base to the uphill snow.

I see what we have to look forward too, LE. Your experiment went well. It is not overdone.

The pattern of the snow is very interesting...haven't seen anything like that before. Great contrast to the greenery below. Nice one.

Love the rich & vibrant green of the trees ... the bit of snow adds a nice contrast. Snow is very common in the springtime where I live ... the good thing is it doesn't last long. Beautiful capture, Lyn.
