Commentary: I titled this the way I did because the picture looks like something taken out west but it is southern Louisiana. This is the first of several images taken from a little two hour trip down one of the highways that leads into marshland. I had gone to take images of what I felt was going to be a good sunset. But, I became so overtaken with the lighting and cloud formations taking place on the east side of the road I was going to miss the beautiful sunset that was shaping up the westside. Did I make it in time to capture the sunset or not? We shall see.

It definitely looks like big sky country out west... as I said before I was surprised to see how flat Louisiana can be. I love the lone pine tree in the foreground and the way the late sunlight falls on everything.

That two hour trip would actually take you ten minutes!!..

I know....I can recall the way you yelled at me to stop the car every few seconds!.....

So this is 'The Wild East' eh!..

Excellent POV Pat.
I noticed the other day when I was in your area how different the West Side the state is compared to the Southeast where I live. It's like two different states completely. It does look a lot like Texas. Fine Scape and overall focus.

Well Done and Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful lighting and color in this one. Love that big open space. If that's the west, then it's the prettiest I have ever seen.

Perfect post again Momma. Thought at first sight that this image was taken in the Wild West, but reading you're narrative have to conclude that the USA has a Wild West looking East as well.

The tree looks good against that flat wide open country. There should be a sign on it for the dogs. Last pit stop for 100 miles.
Lighting is good Owd Momma. I predict the sunset will appear. After all you just need to face the other direction.
