I know this is not a picture you would want to use for the old desktop but just thought I would show you how it rains around my neck of the woods. This is looking out from under my carport towards the back yard. You can see the yard filling up with water. But the land here can handle water. We can get 3 inches of rain and never flood. One time we got 10 inches in two days and never had a problem. I have to laugh when people up North get all excited over and inch or two of rain. That's nothing here. I'll post a couple more in the few days.

I wish I was a Glow Worm, a Glow Worm's never glum, 'cause how can you be grumpy, when the sun shines out your bum?

Mostly in areas like cities where the ground is covered and water cannot seep through into the ground flooding occurs. In Europe flooding occurs mostly when the rivers begin to overflow and water spreads out. Good shot of your "monsoon".

The way the rain is coming off of the carport, is how it can look coming off the one section of my roof over the porch. I have not had too much problem with flooding, only once that I know of here where I'm at. tigs =^..^=

Don't take this the wrong way but, up here in the north Pat, we watch with wonder as a couple inches of snow paralyzes southern states (I'm talking snow, not ice). For a snow storm to be substantial for us it needs to be over 2 feet, and a paralyzing storm is over 3 feet. It's all a matter of what you're used to (which is why I drive a 4WD pickup and a Jeep Wrangler). During a visit to Arkansas in 2005 we noticed how kudzu was able to grow so far up a telephone pole it almost covered it completely. We noticed it because nothing like that could ever happen here; being drier and having winters that can last as long as 7 months, our telephone poles are as bare as old Mother Hubbard's cupboard. As for your image, it is a good and unique capture of rainfall and, if the car wasn't there and the image was cropped up from the bottom, would create an interesting desktop wallpaper for anyone who loves weather photos... as I do. Good eye, Pat.

Yup, that looks pretty wet! lol We got flooding, too. My back yard was a lake...not for long, thankfully.

I think Knik about covered it for the Northerners Owd Momma.
Now this displays raining in sheets.
