I doubt mullein will ever find a place in a formal garden. It blooms for a long while, but it is just a few blooms here and there. However, it is a common prairie flower.

Looks a lot like our wild flowers...Never heard it being named Mullien though!...

The Verbascum thapsus is a well known plant in our sand dunes as well, Jeff. The Dutch name for it is 'Koningskaars' (candle of the king).
Very fine capture again!

Even so, because it is common on the prairie it would be perfect for a garden based on that particular ecosystem. The challenge would lie in transplanting wild plants without killing them.
