A Day in the Life

Misty sunrise in October '08. Escatawpa River before it merges with the Pascagoula River. Even though near where I live it this launch and pier at the river feels very solitary. I rarely see people here. I opted to leave the ugly power lines this time. I can't say why... : ) From the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame this song has been stuck in my mind for days.

"Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream"

Your sunsets/sunrises can send us into dreams too!

Very nice shot, Elizabeth.

Annnnd ...

I like the juxtaposition of the towers, power lines and all ... along with that of the dock.

Colour palette is gorgeous. Good and natural colour. Nicely exposed and composed, as well.

Thanks for sharing this one with us. :o)

Lovely crip silhouettes.

[Just a pity about the power lines. They don't positively enhance the skyline. Such is modern life.]

They make great reflections E~. I think this entire scene is about reflecting. Wonderful work.

Elizabeth, thinks it's a wise decision tho keep the powerlines in your image. Think that without them the scene, althoug it's a sunrise post, could have been rather boring. Now they are an integral part of your (wonderful) image.
Regards, Cornelius.

There are time when towers and lines are not distracting at all, but are a necessary part of the image. That is definitely the case with this. I love the colors here, and the reflections, and every thing else shown.

Beautiful color. With color like that, the power lines are not what draws the eye. Fran

The essence of the Pascagoula area is shipping and other industry...without the powerlines, this would have been quite a different picture...more a "secluded dock in a recreation area" type of thing...which would have been much more common and (imho) much less expressive. I particularly like the quiet colors here.

Its better to have a song you like stuck in your head rather than one you cant stand! That is a great song. The power lines are what they are. I love the color in the sky and in the surface of the water. The image feels nice!

"Holy crap" was the first thing that came to mind, in a positive sense of it.
This is.. this.. I'd use this as inspiration for poetry, or music, or screen writing.
Because that's what it is, inspiring. It's a mix of nature and the brilliance of man. Somehow it gives me the feeling of waiting for something. The colours are it's crown.
