Hamsterley forest.. Somebody up there doesn't like me.. If I don't have a camera the sun is beaming. If I do have a camera,The rain lashes down. Well today I had a camera and the sun was beaming.. I made arrangments to go out with Ian Brodie to a waterfall in the Hamsterly forest.. Off we did trot and when we got there.Ian went to do his thing and me mine.. Clambering down to the waterfall the bank gave way and I plummeted 15 ft to the river bank below. Knocking my self out in the process,After 2 or 3 minutes I came to with leaves in my mouth and covered in mud. Through the haze I saw my camera minus the lens which had snapped off lying close to the river.. I made an attempt to reach out for it but found I was unable to do so owing to my groggy condition. Still lying there I heard a whispering my ear,God I think,I'm on heavens doorstep..But No,It was only Ian Brodie asking If my camera was OK...Thanks Ian,Glad to see you got your priorities right... When I finally managed to rise I find my right leg had a torn ligament.. So that's It..Another day in the life of Richie..Eventful if nothing else..R.

Sorry to hear that Richie. I have often wondered whether I would venture down to the places from where you took your photos. Glad to know that the injury is not serious. The leg will heal in due time.

You got a very nice shot here though.

You need to slow down like you did your shutter in this beauty Richie.
Great story and I had to laugh. Ian sounds like a great guy.😁😁
I will fave this both for the excellent photography and also for the narrative.
Get well soon.

People are like cameras--sometimes they lose focus.

You got a great shot but at a high cost - hope you heal well and fast.

Richie, you made excellent and expensive capture. I am glad you are not seriously hurt, and of course I am happy your camera is OK, too. :))

I immediately noticed (from the length of your narrative) that something special had happened. When I read your narrative, it was confirmed.
To take a good photo, the photographer sometimes goes very far or too far and apparently the older age, with its physical limitations, doesn't really matter.
However, the photographic result is again unsurpassed.
I hope you'll recover soon, Richie, 👍 !.
