Richie, I never have seen a heron which has chosen for such a starting point on its hunt for fish. So it's going to be a steep dive, 😁 !

No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.
During one of my few visits to Mississippi I have been lucky to see a blue heron sitting up in a tree in this manner, quite possibly on the hunt for food (when are they not, eh?). Unfortunately, by the time I had pulled my camera from the car he was already on the wing. Besides that golden eye, I love that long stippling on his neck, something I do not believe ours has. I am curious about those dots in the air behind and below him, though. Do you know if that is birds in the air or a cloud of bugs? My money is on bugs, since they are pretty much all the same shape and size. Another outstanding bird capture, Richie.
