I really like this one. The lighting from the storm clouds just makes it special. I promise to catch up with my comments. This has been a killer of a week at work. Please view full screen to get all of the details.
This is one gorgeous scene, Billy. And I don't understand everyone's comments about viewing the shot at full size. Well, I do understand what you're saying since I'm only slightly insane. What I don't understand is how someone could make a comment on a shot after viewing it only at postage stamp size. I think I've told you that I actually download many of your shots to scan for flaws or get ideas because we both like to take landscape shots. You can't really say anything pertinent if you only look at the small size. Man, I can really ramble.
First of all this is another beauty. You seem to have either mastered the fake sky or have given up because everything here looks genuine and official to me. This is your second numbered posting in a little over a week though. You submitted that tunnel shot with a "1" right above the tunnel. Now this shot in labeled "20" down on the bottom right. I never did understand the tunnel number, but my guess is that the "20" is a highway number which I probably would have cloned out. That's just me. It doesn't detract from the shot. Love the clouds, that singular patch of blue and the colors of the trees and rocks. I'd give this something between a 7.5 and an 8. But I posted a flower shot today and won't be visiting the VB. I hope this does well. This isn't on your way to work too, is it?
It is a very good composition BTK. I might have bumped the contrast a hair but nothing too major. I haven't seen a Canyon since I read the old comic strips about Steve Canyon. Remember him? Don't worry about the comments. Keeping momma happy is much more important. :) Very good post.
The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB
Billy - The scene is most impressive. The raw rock mountains, with the scrub and trees interspersed, are magnificent. As Tick notes, a bit more contrast would really make them pop. Not risking the lovely sky, doing this on a separate layer would work. Again, the scene is beautiful - you composed it very nicely. As others have stated, don't worry about comments; friends understand busy schedules. Thad
