A vain emperor who cares about nothing except wearing and displaying clothes hires two weavers who promise him they will make him the best suit of clothes. The weavers are con-men who convince the emperor they are using a fine fabric invisible to anyone who is either unfit for his position or "hopelessly stupid."

O, what a tangled web we weave; when first we practice to deceive!
Sir Walter Scott

I'm not upset that you lied to me; I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you.

When your lover is a liar, you and he have a lot in common; you're both lying to you!

The Emperor's New Clothes - a very fine and appealing image depicting an important moral - if you know a truth, say so and don't let your worry about being thought stupid get in the way. Sit Walter Scott said it well :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

It looks like they exhumed him to check on his clothes Strat. Was he buried in a cave. I wonder if they played this song while they dug him up.
Great creation with wonderful quotes. I liked Jesse Kinch and the Gerry and the Pacemakers song.
Entertaining post as always and I'm not lying.

It may be complicated artwork as Sandi says above, but a wonderful example of complexity emphasized by the well selected quotes and music link, John.
