Invasion of the Body Snatchers

Book: 1955 science fiction novel by American writer Jack Finney
Movie: 1956
Movie: 1978

It started - for me, it started - last Thursday, in response to an urgent message from my nurse, I hurried home from a medical convention I'd been attending. At first glance, everything looked the same. It wasn't. Something evil had taken possession of the town.
Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1956 film

Look, you fools, you're in danger! Can't you see? They're after you! They're after all of us! Our wives, our children, everyone! THEY'RE HERE, ALREADY! YOU'RE NEXT!
Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 1956 film

In the blood-heat of pursuing the enemy, many people are forgetting what we are fighting for. We are fighting for our hard-won liberty and freedom; for our Constitution and the due processes of our laws; and for the right to differ in ideas, religion and politics. I am convinced that in your zeal to fight against our enemies, you, too, have forgotten what you are fighting for.
Julia Child, My Life in France

[we are] going to continue to fight communism. Now I am going to tell you how we are not going to fight communism. We are not going to transform our fine FBI into a Gestapo secret police. That is what some people would like to do. We are not going to try to control what our people read and say and think. We are not going to turn the United States into a right-wing totalitarian country in order to deal with a left-wing totalitarian threat.
Harry S. Truman

Have you no sense of decency, sir?

Oh my, what a powerful presentation, John...such density, depth, and detail...I believe I saw this movie some years ago...I haven't been the same since:)...are those round things pods that are growing...your accompanying passages add to the fear and suspicion...in lieu of the political climate in the US the Truman quote is quite timely...and all topped off with the gripping music of Phil Collins and one of my favorite songs, make this an overall superb rendition of your chosen movie title...excellent work, John!

I think this was the beginning of the "Eye Pod", Strat. It was one of the first SciFi movies I remember seeing.
Between it and Orson Welles' "War of the Worlds," there was "Panic In the Streets."
Wonderful song, quotes and SNATM. It has the entire package.

It is indeed a powerful image and quite scary when matched with the title and quotes. I can not watch it for too long because it begins o move - towards me I swear! Honest !
Love the song as well. Phil Collins was here in NZ earlier this month, My son was fortunate enough to go to one of the gigs. Phil sat in a chair for the performance due to a back injury. Son said it was fantastic

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

A very artistic contribution for the SNATM theme, John.
I agree with Lyn that your artwork with the quotes and the link for the music video perform a perfect match.
With this wonderful post, you've spoiled us again, my friend, 😁.
