Compass Clipart, may be found at Clipart Library

I want you to know
one thing.

You know how this is:
if I look
at the crystal moon, at the red branch
of the slow autumn at my window,
if I touch
near the fire
the impalpable ash
or the wrinkled body of the log,
everything carries me to you,
as if everything that exists,
aromas, light, metals,
were little boats
that sail
Pablo Neruda, If You Forget Me

You ought to go to a boy's school sometime. Try it sometime, I said. "It's full of phonies, and all you do is study so that you can learn enough to be smart enough to be able to buy a goddam Cadillac some day, and you have to keep making believe you give a damn if the football team loses, and all you do is talk about girls and liquor and sex all day, and everybody sticks together in these dirty little goddam cliques."
J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye

Strip away the phony tinsel of Hollywood and you'll find the real tinsel underneath.
Oscar Levant

Sometimes when your moral compass isn't working, there is someone there to straighten you out. I have been straightened out a time or two.

I never had a Cadillac, but I owned an Olds 98 which was pretty close. I've taken a lot of football game photos the last few years. Not many winners. Games or photos. 😁🏈

I can't tell whether I'm looking at a little man from the back riding his moral compass or a duck headon. Either way "Don't Take My Ship From Me."

Interesting and full of hidden accusations John.

A moral compass is very important in life. When you find it, it's even better. Great work, John and Pablo and Salinger found their places here very good.

A normal compass is available everywhere, as opposed to a moral compass, because a lot of effort is needed to obtain and maintain it. This fine post is an incentive for the latter. Thanks for this help, John.

A moral compass can never be like a normal compass with the needle always pointing in the same direction because human mind is not so steady as a compass needle. A very nice image showing the steady compass on one side and without the compass next to it John.

Love this composition, John, and the glowing opal-like colors...and as always, your chosen quotes add much to the pleasure of your presentation.
