I can't offer you images of (snowed) mountains or something like that because the area where I live (a couple of islands and peninsula's surrounded by sea) is flat as flat can be. Therefore this area got already in the medieval time the name 'Zeeland' (Sea land). Most of the people of Zeeland (province of the Netherlands) are living below sea level, but we've learned in the past centuries by struggling how to keep our feet dry (lol). The way how Hans Brinker was said that he had managed to do so, is just a fairy tale. In order to protect us from the always (up till now) threatening sea, more complex and very expensive solutions are required, like the Eastern Scheldt storm surge barrier.

Depicted is here a part of that barrier. One will be impressed by the fast flowing water and its force when looking downwards to the sea while beeing on the top floor of his barrier.

Hope you'll like this image. Thanks in advance for your comment.

Don't worry yourself one little bit that you can't offer images of (snowed) mountains or something like...while I enjoy mountain scenes I can well do without the snow and love water scenes the best, of which you have provided us with here...a real beauty with wonderful color and perspective...my only complaint is that I'm not there.

If only we here in Louisiana were as prepared for storms then Hurricanes would not be so BAD here.

I remember a News Broadcast here a few years ago showed our Army Corp of Engineers over in your country studying the designs of your barriers.

Thanks for sharing.

I think we all have something that is unique to where we live, SEA.
That is why this photo/information site is so popular with inquisitive folks such as us.
To me this is a beautiful scene and makes me long to see it in person. The water and the passing ships you see are something to behold.

Your windmills are almost as beautiful as mountains to me, Mr. C. I love the angle of this shot, and the view of the wind turbines and the bridge, as well as the shoreline. Another gorgeous shot.

I need not any more snow shots Mr.C. - this is so refreshingly different from what I see and fascinating to see how its done.

Like E.J. said if only we had such a structure in Louisiana at the time of that terrible hurricane Katrina that hurt New Orleans a few years back. It produced a deadly storm surge with catastrophic levee system failure. Some of those folks took refuge in the upper part of our state, Alabama, during that time. That is a nice image Cornelius. I ramble on.

Unfortunately this was built after my last visit to Rotterdam/Antwerp and so never had a chance to see it Cornelius. I can imagine how impressive it looks in real when I see this photo. Very nice capture.

I'd take that instead of all this white stuff, more storms moving in. I can almost feel the beautiful sun and the sand beneath my feet
