That towering viewpoint is higher than the actual lighthouse!...

It must take that Windmill to 'power' all them up at night eh!...lol

Another superb view of your area old friend!

Although I have passed through Flushing many times going up the river to Antwerp I have berthed at Flushing only once. I remember visiting the restaurant in the tower with my wife. Beautiful shot of the coastline Cornelius.

This is certainly more beautiful than Flushing, Queens, NY. Curious, I researched the name "Flushing" and found this: In 1645, Flushing was established by Dutch settlers on the eastern bank of Flushing Creek under charter of the Dutch West India Company and was part of the New Netherland colony. The settlement was named after the city of Vlissingen, in the southwestern Netherlands.

I then researched Staten Island, NY. Dutch settlers named the island while sailing by and one of the crew members asked: Is stat an Island?

Lovely photography, Cornelius.

Great detail and composition Cornelius. The windmill looks quite at home amidst the more modern structures.

The entire shot is beautiful, but for me the highlight is the windmill. I wish we had them here. Well actually you will see one from time to time, but it is usually used for advertising. Thanks for sharing this wonderful image, Mr. C.

What an interesting spot Mr. C. and I'm glad to see all your shots together as one peninsula so to speak. I also enjoyed Doug's research as I know their is much Dutch influence in the New York area.

Wow another outstanding capture of magazines quality with superb colours crisp sharp detail and outstanding depth of field .Love the windmill making a statement that the old style still can live with the new.Plus the light in this shot is superb and I like the ripples the breeze is creating across the sea too.Well done to a cracker of a shot .

Cornelius - Somethings old and somethings new - in a well composed shoreline scene. The clarity and color are spot on. Terrific photography.
