I've captured this Ceanothus (arboreus?) shrub two days ago in my garden. In my country (The Netherlands) this shrub got the nickname 'Amerikaanse Sering' (American Lilac). This image was taken in the early morning hours. At that time there wasn't much activity by flying visitors, aka bees. At days when the sun is shining, my Ceanothus shrubs are crowded by bees at later times of these days. Even at a certain distance one can hear their buzzing sound. The fragrance/scent of the blossoms is overwhelming too. It makes me sometimes think about fairy tales. The elves and gnomes are missing however, 😁 !

My contribution for Foofy Friday (F²) !

Yes, lilacs certainly do have a wonderful scent and I wish somehow you could have included it with your great picture.

Well Mr. C. you got me on this one - I am not familiar with it. I see by reading your link it is more prevalent from the Rockies west but still I should have known about it as some varieties are widely distributed in my country. Kudos on a fine garden and a good shot!

Beautiful color and fragrance on those lilacs Cornelius - I can well understand why the bees are so attracted to them - Great Capture!!!!!!!

I don't mind the bees being active in the garden as long as they are interested in the garden and not me. A couple of days ago was attacked by a red wasp. The mean guy decided I was an intruder and stung me on my finger. It began itching and puffing up. Took some medicine and prayer and it finally went away. It has been over 30 years since I've been stung and I prefer it that way. I think your garden is lovely, Cornelius! Keep a watchful eye.

What a gorgeous bush, with my favorite color too. Wish we could grow something like that here, but we don't have the right kind of soil. Thanks for sharing though.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Except for the color it does look like our lilacs. I have a dozen of them along the south side of my back yard--ranging from the newly planted ones at a couple feet, to those that are about 8 years planted and are now about 12-to-15 feet high, to the 4 miniature ones out front. The flowers are the same, no matter the size, and they look very much like this. As for bees, ours collect them as well as multitudes of butterflies. When I get my shop built I'm going to build butterfly houses for everyone in the neighborhood, so all our flowers, in plants, bushes or trees, will get fluttering visitors. That way they will move along with buzz. A good one for Foofy Friday, C.
