Depicted is the Port House in Antwerp, Belgium and its adjacent environment.

The port company 'Port of Antwerp-Bruges' needed to expand its offices. There was a disused fire station in the harbor area, which couldn't be demolished because of its historic character. It was decided to renovate the fire station internally and to provide it with a modern Neo futurist superstructure extension. The integration started in 2012. The construction was completed in 2016.

I like that they made use of the Wind Turbans for their power. Fine capture

Those are some huge wind turbines... They've even improved the power output and technology (They're direct drive to the generator, as opposed to a problematic gearbox to the generator as in the past, so they can be larger and turn much slower these days) over the years... Nice capture...Faved

I don't know, C., but perhaps I'm just too much of an architectural purist to really appreciate that ultra-modern tower in the middle of that gorgeous elderly structure (and ain't that the truth concerning all of us elderly structures?). In fact, that old fire station appears to be the only piece of classic construction in the photo--so unlike all the other Antwerp images you have shared with us. Don't get me wrong, I understand and appreciate what this capture is doing, at least for me, anyway; providing an extreme contrast in structure and modernity. The fire station is a bit like David Copperfield, surrounded by his loss of innocence, step-father Murdstone, and creepy Uriah Heep and his cronies. David-the-fire-station looks a little lost here.

Love it or hate it, but to me the old building deserved a better fate.Either way, it's a spectacular image,Cornelius.
