...and all that quiet afternoon, slow sloping to the night, he wove with golden shuttle the haze with yellow light.... (from the Huskers by John Greenleaf Whittier) ...I took this photograph on Saturday afternoon in Siddington Cheshire by Redesmere Lake - there were lots of people out walking and one friendly person stopped to tell me all about the baby owls that were in the trees that you see here - I looked hard but did not see them, but the landscape was beautiful and all aglow in the late afternoon sun.

Of course you didn't see them. They were in their bedrooms sleeping. It's daytime isn't it? Very good shot and it does seem to be peaceful.

Oh no!..you didnt fall for the old "baby owls in the tree" thing did ya Patti?? LOL Oldest trick in the book!! Who could fall for such a thing?? Okay..so I did..but only 3 or 4 times! (my neck is still stiff from standing there staring up all that time..) Nice shot Patricia; very pretty! *goes off rubbing back of neck*

I can't see any baby owls either, but then I didn't bring my binoculars..magnifying glass, I mean *smiles* What a perfectly lovely day to be out taking these golden shots. I love this bucolic scene with what looks like a barn off in the distance to the left..no cows though..there should be cows ..lol... :)PJ

Very nice view of this area Patti! Now, you're just going to have to try harder to get a shot of those baby owls. You've gotta come back at night and climb those trees with your nightvision lens..=)

What I like About This Composition: I like the starkness of the branches against the skyin the upper left. I like the way the sun lights up the tree tops in blazing color. I love the comfy looking farmhouse peeping out from the background. I like the "Golden Hour" atmosphere of the composition.
Suggestions For Improvement: I would like to see the sky bluer and the white clouds more distinct.
Conclusion: Lovely composition that deserves first prize.

The old twisty tree, overhanging limbs, and the old home tucked away in the background makes for the perfect shot, Patti.
