The White Pelicans that winter in the valley often fish in groups. I have never seen these pelicans dive from the air for fish. Instead these birds swimm in group trolling the water for fish. I thing that in this way birds can herd fish into the waiting crops of nearby pelicans. The bump on the bill of the bird on the right means that it is in breeding condition.

You sure have the gift of capturing your subject at the perfect moment and this is on fine example with one face one way and the other facing the opposite way plus lovely composition ,light and stunning colours.Also I do like dark background it sure bring the detail and white out of these lovely looking birds and I love the ripples over the water and smoothness plus light over the water too.Well done to a great capture Garrett.

Very interesting narrative, it's amazing how they group together for catching food.
Fabulous lighting and capture, really like the way the sun is highlighting their throats with all the veins, also the wonderful eye colours and like the way sun is showing all the detail on the feathers. Right into my favs
