...filters through the windows into the nook. The plants love it, but on hot days I've gotta close the blinds to keep things a bit more comfortable. Redmond, Oregon, USA.
A scene directly out of my youth... Aunt Martha and uncle Sands finished breakfast a while ago... he's at his office in the railroad warehouse, she's in the garden weeding, watched over by the cat. The house was well built many years ago so there's no floors creaking, no faucet dripping. The only sounds are the ticking of the stove clock and the timed chime of the grandfather that stands in the parlor. The memories of aunt Martha's heavenly breakfasts here cherished by a little boy from a hungry household. Truly, the only things different from their breakfast nook is that theirs was a booth with red leather seats and backs, and an elm tree and garden out the window instead of cars. Well, that and the print on the wall was a Currier & Ives. I've always found it fascinating how such a simple scene can involve more than any gorgeous mountain range, and a study in light and shadow can tell a story (as long as this comment) that evokes emotions and memories... and scenarios. Excellent. (Phwew... is he done already? :o)
