Sure, we've all seen marathons. But this is the USA's premier relay race: The Hood to Coast. These runners start high up on the flanks of Mt. Hood, and run 199 miles to the Pacific Ocean at Cannon Beach. They start at 5 am and run along US Highway 26 next to regular traffic--cars, trucks, buses, RVs, etc.-- through small towns (Boring) and large (Portland). The pro teams, such as the ones from Nike and Adidas, finish in about 16-17 hours. But most are just everyday folks and they run all night long, finishing sometime the next morning. Nights are interesting because on rural roads, there are no lights other than what the runners have on them. This year, the event had over 170 12-person teams. Just outside Sandy, Oregon, USA.

This is a very good action photo, no doubt about that, but an open-shutter night photo of them running along the highway would be really cool to see. Setting the f-stop at about 10 or 12, shot perpendicular to their side of the road so car lights wouldn't wash out the shot, we'd see straight white and red lines of the car head and tail lights, interspersed with the bouncing lights of the runners. It would look positively alien. Just a thought.

The wide aperture adds emphasis to the group of front runners. I envy the clear blue sky, almost empty open road and natural landscape.

Nice one. (o:

Progress equals a trashed planet since mankind is too busy altering it. BTW find the classic definition of Caedes here. Enjoy yourself today (o: because you don't know what tomorrow may bring. DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO? . . . VOTE INDECISION!

It sure would take motivation to do that run! I have a friend does that does local runs, but nothing to the extent of that. Good capture of them trying to get to the finish. tigs=^..^=
