Not sure if this is a blackberry or a raspberry, but I think it's a raspberry. Can anyone else tell? Cortes Island, BC, Canada.

Gorgeous simply gorgeous! The colors are bright and really say Spring. Hopefully it'll get to be spring where I live soon, seems we've been missing out on it last year and this one. Heatwaves please subside. Anyways I'm rambling lol. Saved and faved.:)

I used to pick raspberries in my Grandmothers' raspberry patch as a kid but that was so long ago I can't recall what the early ones looked like but I think this may indeed be a raspberry...blackberries are so similar that it's always possible this is a blackberry too...in any case, a good capture, with great color and definition.

I'm pretty sure it's a blackberry, Ted. Other than the berry itself, the leaves are another way to identify a plant. Compare the smoother surface of the leaves in your photo here to the "bubbled" surface of the raspberry leaves in this foof photo I submitted last year, taken along a trail in Montana's Flathead National Forest.

Now I look more closely at the leaves, I think Nik is likely right.

Years ago, I thought wouldn't be cool to have a device that you could take a photo of a plant, flower etc and it would tell you want species it is. Well, guess what, there's an app for that! As mentioned, leaves are good way to tell what it is.
