Here is the famous statue called the "Fallen Angel"in the Miracles Square (Piazza dei Miracoli) in Pisa. Was created by: Igor Mitoraj a Polish artist born in Germany. He is best known for his fragmented sculptures of the human body.

This statue is near the Leaning Tower of Piza. You have to see this in person to view the whole thing from all angles.

Hope you are enjoying our holiday in Tuscany and I'm not tiring you out with all the images.

Trying to comment on images, Thanks for you patience and friendship. Have a beautiful day.

Comments most welcomed and thanks in advance if you choose to do so.

Even the plaque identifying the sculpture is embedded in the ground at a slight angle. Nice pairing and display. The patina he applied to it makes it look like it's ancient, almost a match for the one he has in Pompeii, another fallen angel but not quite so smashed. Now are you sure this guy wasn't just flying around Pisa one day, looking for a good pizza place, when he spots this little hottie on a Vespa? He's so entranced by the way her hair is flowing out the back, in the breeze, that he's distracted and loses track of where he is... but wait! He senses... he feels... no! He KNOWS that he's about to run smack into a 186-foot, eight-story, freestanding bell tower, that will one day become the main reason 4th grade schoolchildren in Akron, Ohio, will know the name Pisa well (but the third kid in the first row will still confuse it with "Pizza")! Tickets and guided tour reservations are available... book now and skip the line. Are you sure that's not how it happened? Maybe you should go back and study the obverse side of his head and that tower thingy to see if there's matching impact craters on both? I mean... look at his head... he must have hit something!

Just a thought. (oh, and I like your photo... it's almost like we're on vacation with you :o)

(Just a laugh--just for you, Pat). Happy Trails

You may have been right, Pat, but I like to say however that this very fine photograph provides us with an excellent impression.

Love your Italian series. Although I'm 72 years young, I'm still very vital for not being tired by viewing all your other Italian images, so let the come, my friend. Thanks anyhow for this one!

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
