An nice setting for this shot, Dan. I don't know that I've ever seen a heron swimming. I love the ripples and the textures in the rocks.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

I've only seen them poised on rocks. We do get them up here once in a while, but it's nice to see a pic of one...looks like it was a bright, sunny day to enjoy as well :)

How close were you able to get? Looks like you were pretty close or had a telephoto lens. Both of these are very nice. I can never get that close to them.
