West Hartford, Connecticut, USA. A restaurant in beautiful Elizabeth Park really has terrific service and food. In winter months, they position mannequins on a terrace. These two were seated at a table waiting for their lunch, but a few snow storms slowed outdoor service! This image symbolizes my lack of attention on Caedes in recent months. For several reasons, I haven't done much with the camera. In mid-April, just after midnight, a drunk driver drove his large car into our two-hundred year old house, causing significant damages to the house. While we were asleep at the opposite end of the house and were not injured, and the driver sustained only minor airbag injuries, it has been a four-month restoration process that is coming to an end. The restoration contractor did phenomenal work, and our insurance company fantastic. Also, during this period, I got quite ill with Lyme Disease from a tick bite, and spent a month on antibiotics. Fortunately, it was discovered early, and I am recovered. All this is not for sympathy, but, merely an explanation. I have been viewing and enjoying Caedes friends' photos, though not posting comments. I apologize for the lack of comments.

I don't think the waitress is going to receive a tip. A great find and good capture of the chilly winter scene, Thad.

My brother's house suffered a similar fate as yours a few years ago. Glad you're feeling better.

That's a pretty 'cool' shot, Thad. The mannequins almost look real. Glad to hear things are getting better for you. You have had a rough go of it.

Their food and drinks are served 'ice cold' Thad, lol.
Wonderful photograph taken with your keen eyes.

Please don't apologize for the lack of commenting, because you had several good reasons for that. It's wonderful to hear about both the progress of your health and the fact that the extensive restoration of your house has been ended.

Take still care my friend!

Oh I am glad they are not real people - they would be very cold. A Unique and very eye catching image Thad :)

You have really had a bad time. I am glad both you and your house are on the mend. It must have been a great shock when your house was hit.
Take care and stay well :)

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

Bad luck never comes singly it seems. Glad to hear that your house is being restored properly and more than that - the lime disease - you were lucky that you realized what it was and got your treatment early enough. Funny and beautiful capture here Thad.

Thad, First of all I want to say I'm glad you took quick action on the tick bite, and second I'm so sorry about your house, but good news the insurance and contractor are working together so well. As for your picture, it's a cute one, and what a neat idea they come up with. I do hope you will be joining on a more regular basis.

I'm so glad you hit the LD early Thad - some of my friends haven't and had some serious consequences. I'm also glad your insurance and house are working out but sorry you had to go through that - It happened to my parents when I was a teenager and it was horrible. That capture is too cute and clever.

So happy that things have improved from the strange accident & restoration, it's great the everything has gone smoothly, plus you're lucky you caught the tick bite early.

Your imagine is perfect for the explaining your time away. When I looked at this quickly I thought they were real people until I view in full. A Big Welcome Back

Good to hear you're doing better, you and your house. Here in North Dakota, a house that old can sometimes qualify for funding assistance for repairs or restoration through a program set up by the state's historical society. As for your submission, this one immediately caught my eye as a thumbnail and I had to see it full size to figure out how someone would bury themselves in a drift (we get lots of snow here, too) while keeping the drift surface this smooth. Mannequins. Of course. A fun idea and a fun capture. Some day I'm going to have to run my butt out to the tiny town of Amidon, North Dakota, that has a highway that runs right through town as its Main Street, and get a shot of something similar. The town's too small for a police officer so someone placed a dead car along the roadside, painted it to look like a sheriff's car, and put a dummy dressed in a uniform inside. It actually does slow people down! No worries about comments and such... your health always comes first.

Happy trails.
