isn't she beautiful? { I truly think so!} She is wild and free...in my new heaven I have found...and she lives in a beautiful place called McKay's Creek, and she's smiling because she's happy to see ya.:) When I hiked down { same side of creek} she was sunning herself on opposite side....but when I returned, she was waiting here on my side. She was never scared like many are...so this can endanger her later. She's also smiling because she is watching something in the water. In my next shot, you will see what she sees....and why she really didn't care that I was so up close to her. To see actual distance I was when taking this shot...clickhere

I echo your sentiments - she's wild and free - and beautiful. I've never seen their eyes so clearly before and you have caught it so well. Hope she also caught something for dinner!
Great texture shot!

This is an excellent capture Terri of a beautiful animal. I love the detail that you were able to bring to my eyes. You know I have never seen an alligator up close and personal :) We have them in the Zoo here, but on all my trips to Florida, I have not seen one yet. Thank you for bringing me this delightful, yet powerful image. It was shot with good lighting and you attained spot on composition, really nice color and high quality in this picture.

I envy you, that you live right between these magnificent animals.I live in Holland, and the only thing i see in the wild are rabbits and hedgehogs.:-( If i want to see a gator,i must go to the zoo,bud i'm against animals kept in captivity.Every animal has it's purpose in our world, and that's not to live in a cage.

No one captures that smile quite like Terri. Great job, but don't close one eye while focusing. Very nicely done.

A fine shot, very well done. But as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I guess you have to live amongst them.

I have to say, I think this is the first truly "beautiful" shot of such a creature I've ever seen. She actually looks delightful and innocent:) Very well done Terri, lator gator.

I worry about you Terri, you are getting to close to these, or you have a great zoom lens. What a nice close up, and a nice smile.

What a super close up Terri and I did link to your other photo. I too worry about the ones that are used to humans feeding them. Sounds like she may be one of them. You have to respect them and what a great capture this is.

I could never imagine gators as being so placid. They've been given such a bad press over the years [like sharks]. You're doing a great job to improve their PR.
Beautifully detailed shot, you could sink into those eyes...
Cheers,
Steve.
