I found these today hidden behind a neighbor's porch. As I was working on the photo to try and bring out the beauty I found in the flowers, I kept thinking that the pink border looked so much like the undergarments of old...slipping, I think it used to be called when they showed :)PJ

This photo appears to have been manipulated -- and this not a criticism. Everyone really likes the result. But could you enlighten us on how you did it -- the glowing edges, the blurred background?

I love this. They are beautiful andthis picture would not look out of place haning on a wall. I think it would brighten up any room. Not being a gardener, I couldn't tell a weed from a rose, so what are these flowers? I love em.

In answer to ghwahl's question: I took the original photo into PhotoShop and made an exact working copy of it. I then used the magnetic lasso tool to crop out the flowers and the leaves from the working copy, leaving them unaltered on their own separate layer. I then went back to the original layer and made another copy of it and used the Gaussian Blur effect to render it blurry so that my neighbor's house with all its conflicitng images wouldn't detract from the flower. The last step I did was to place the cropped flowers on to the blurred background and the resultant "glow" you're seeing is actually the blurred flower behind the unaltered flower. Evidently the Blur effect pushes the image out just a little bit. I wish I had a camera and the knowledge to do that in the field, but instead for now I have PhotoShop and I have to work with the tools I have :)PJ
