This one was more of a challenge really wanted to bring the Skipper more into the now but despite my 7 attempts he refused to leave 1911. So I kinda left him in his time period where he wanted to stay and and ended up with I think a period correct colorization. Must say he does kinda remind me of an old man of the Sea here on Caedes.
Looking forward to all your comments on this one.

I love what you did to this one, I think it's perfect. I agree with you about the post by Doug. This fella reminds me of the actor Sam Elliott.. :) Faved!

One look at those steely eyes and the casual but practiced and solid way he rests his arm on the wheel box, tells me he really IS that "old man of the sea". His beat up fedora and soiled and worn seersucker shirt, buttoned to the throat, reinforces that. Since this is in Bayou La Batre, perhaps he's Forest Gump'sgrandfather?

Ernest Hemingway came to mind as soon as I looked at this Rob.
I could almost taste the salt in the air while viewing this masterpiece. You are correct about getting it just right.

For all the visual information available, this could be the Oyster Barge Ride at Coney Island, and this could be Sam Elliott's grandpappy. I also hope the shot was staged rather than reality because he's in a very awkward position to make fast or fine course corrections. I think even the Skipper stood behind the wheel.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust

The stories that this skipper could tell! Great colorization work, Rob.

If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine The Earth without art is just 'eh'.

I really like this one, you can see the character in his face and the hard life of a fisherman/seaman.
