A sad and harsh look at the reality of life for some and it still goes on to this day in most if not all major cities...good work on the subtle coloring of this somber image.

Some folks have gone through so much and are still I guess. What a photo, glad you are sharing some of these hardships, we are so lucky. Nice choice and work on this.

The mattress out of straw trick isn't something you see much anymore. Like in never. He looks in bad shape though, despite his ingenuity. I think that he and the photographer would be surprised that conditions worse than this would become the norm generations later in the richest country on Earth.

You did a superb job on this one, we can see clearly the features of his face as he sleeps. It's a sad every day thing we see in city life. I was just talking to my daughter yesterday about the hardships so many have to endure especially at this time of year. tigs=^..^=

Your choice of subjects shows such deep emotion. They are very thought-provoking. The subtle coloring is perfect for this.

I bet he was surprised by the flash Rob. I see he has his trusty bottle nearby. An archive photo from somewhere other then the United State is interesting.

He's not asleep. I enlarged a copy in Photoshop and can see his left eye is open while the right is closed, rather awkwardly. Either he's half asleep, surprised by the flash, or he has only the one eye. I can also see a mooring ring set in the wall in the upper left. Nothing indicates that this bridge is over a depression in the land or over water. If it's water, that would explain the ring and, if so, then the water must be low enough to allow the tramp's bed of hay to remain dry.

Sadly, homelessness remains a problem world-wide. Your subtle colorizing gives dignity to this photo subject.
