Just a splash of color and some eye soars removed no pun intended. This is about the most gutrenching image I have colorized when your own mother can say that well......

She is so sad because you did not grant color to her sister. And, I bet she is not ugly - shame on mom.

It is heart wrenching, Rob. What a terrible thing for a mother to say. I don't know what the mother looked like on the outside, but it is obvious she was ugly on the inside.
I hope this little girl married someone who really cared for her and gave her a lifetime of love.
I was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1961-62 when I was in the United States Air Force. Maybe I met the grown up version of this little girl.
Touching and very well done.

Shame on that mom, the poor little one had to endure such mental abuse. I do hope she had better times in her life. Rob, this is perfectly done. tigs=^..^=

Good work again in bringing out the details. A sad image, but reflects on those tough times of the past.

I appreciate that this photograph was taken and your work on this is excellent. It is heart wrenching, of course, but our knowledge of such events is vital if we want to improve our world.

What a shame, how could a mother say something like that. So Cruel. Nice work again from you though.

Not so shocking to those of us who endured their parents fists at a young age.

I was just in Biloxi and, while it's nothing like this today (I hope), there are plenty of pockets of poverty there, with gated rich communities next to absolute dumps of poorly built hovels. I kept mostly to within ten miles of the coast and could see that seafood--catching, selling, eating--is still a major industry there... well, that and WalMart... they even have a WalMart Avenue (my son says WalMart is king in Mississippi).

Poor wee lassie. Makes me want to hold her and keep her safe. And I'm sorry, Russ, for what your single sentence comment suggests... for me it was my brothers' fists.
