Rob, a striking difference now when compared with the original B&W capture. In B&W it's just a portrait of a shy girl.
Your colorization has made however that the freckles on her nose have created a charming and disarming atmosphere as well.
Proves to me what apt, and not overdosed, colorization can do with an image. Very well done again, my friend.

The hair coloring goes well with the freckles, Rob (looks a bit like my wife did at that age). Her smile is likely from the thrill of getting her portrait taken but, unless her family was literally starving, she was probably not as affected by her family's financial woes as we might consider... her dress may be a little thread-worn but she doesn't seem to care. I'm the product of a single-parent home, my mother working all hours at a low-paying waitress job, and nearly all my clothes were hand-me-downs from my two older brothers. We ate a lot of cold cereal, oatmeal, eggs, macaroni, and sauerkraut stew (German ancestry), relatively inexpensive foods in the 1950's (my first experiences with gourmet foods like steak and shrimp came from untouched portions left on plates at my mother's place of work, supplemental treats she brought home to us), but we ate our fill. And while our Christmases were sometimes thin (except for the gifts our father gave us), playing army as kids we cherished and would often fight over a favorite stick that was the perfect shape of a WWII Thompson, unconcerned that we didn't have a plastic version that made rat-a-tat sounds and had a red plastic plug that would jump in and out of the barrel when fired... our imaginations did all that for us. Unless we were spoiled to death in our younger years, we understand that children are often not as affected by the worries of adulthood, the reason I so many times hear people my age say "Oh, I'd love to be 6 again!"

She looks to be Irish or Scandinavian to me. Another great rework!

These scenes that you bring us are quite dramatic in many instances, and somehow you have the uncanny ability to know exactly which colors and tones bring out the best image to view. Bravo.
