My friend Pam, who works at Defries Garden, spotted this praying mantis on the golden rod at one of the nature areas close to Defries,when she was making her rounds, and closing the different locations for the night.
Because this mantis is on golden rod, she named it Goldie. :)

Wowser Sandi, perfectly timed with him looking right at you, this is a real bonus in beauty and composition. Such detail and you can even see his eyes clearly - Bravo

Great shot Tigs - the praying mantis is posing for you - great clarity - I like the shadowed background - love seeing goldenrod this time of year - this plant provides nourishment for the insects and most importantly, the monarchs, as they make their way south. Great Capture!!!!!!!

Dialed in the DOF very nicely, and as a result.. the bokeh is wonderfully blurred. And that, in turn.. places your subject front and center for your viewers.
I would also add.. and apart from a very appropriate name for your insect friend here.. love the colour palette within frame.

One of the few insects one can keep as a pet and actually interact with. My fellow Seabees and I had one while working in Japan, a looong time ago. Fascinating creatures.
