There really is such a thing as a free lunch! Or so the bluejay thinks. :-) Wonderful depth of field, with spot-on clarity of the jay.

Great shot - even the little snowflakes you were able to capture - nice job on the focus.

Raucous but extremely beautiful birds, we had them hanging out regularly in our neighbor*s big pine tree~~until we cut it down, anyway~~but they are always active at bird feeders. One item ours loved was peanuts in the shell. They would grab one from the feeder and fly off to a nearby handy perch~~we kept a pair of binoculars close by~~and then stand on the shell with one foot, while pecking off the exposed end, then reaching in and pulling out the tasty treat inside. Your depth of field in this capture, Sandi, is perfectly set to reveal the bird and corn in the feeder, while the background is a smooth bokeh, making the main subject pop even more. Offsetting the subject to one side is also more aesthetic than the standard technical bird-species-book-photo. Overall, this one is a 10. Diggin* it!

Brings back memories of these lovely and entertaining birds, the bird feeders attracted great numbers of them (and chickadees). Colour, focus, bokeh, composition - all fabulous.

Lovely shot, Sandi showing the Blue Jay having a 'dinner for free'. I see by the contents of the feeder that it and its friends won't starve in the coming time in spite of the wintry conditions.

You get such a wonderful variety of visitors to your bird feeder. You must be the best seed restaurant in the neighborhood.

This pose lends one to believe that these beautiful birds have a wealth of knowledge that we can never have ... stunning, and favorite.
