I recently visited a new area with a friend of mine. This little bloom is an early spring flower, and it is named "Spring Beauty". This nature area is called Edna Spurgeon Woodland Reserve and is an area of low ridges, or kames, left by glaciers, and cut by glacial meltwater, it was the first land trust.

This lovely area has an abundance of beech, sugar mapel, and tulip trees that are among the largest in the state of Indiana. Beneath the trees you can find sessile trillium, blue-eyed mary, bloodroot, hepatica,celandine poppy, dutchman's breeches, and squirrel corn.

Acreage is 65.0 and a trail length of 1.2 miles that are very hilly! There were more paths, and I have found a new spot, especially for spring time.

It might be worth a visit in the fall.

Thank you for commenting, and I hope you have a nice day.

tigs=^..^=

I should tell you that our mod Mimi has had to take leave of Caedes, and has informed Jerry, so not sure about the contests these days, I hope she will return, but she has so much on her plate these days.

Beautiful little blooms. They are a nice Spring color too. The dark background makes them stand out. Lovely photo.

Tigs.....I was reminded by your posting that today is Friday. Too late for me since I posted a shot of Big Sur when I thought it was Thursday. I guess retirement has its advantages when everyday is Saturday.

Fine shot of this dainty beauty.

Sandi, thanks for informing us about Mimi. I don't know why Mimi had to say goodbye to Caedes. Her presence will be terribly missed, as she has been the driving force behind Caedes in the recent years. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mimi for all she has done for Caedes and Caedes' friends. I hope she can come back!

Thanks too for a very fine and delicate Foofy Friday (F²) contribution. Very well taken, per usual!

As a thumbnail, I at first I thought the image to be a bit too dark, but enlargement showed me otherwise. There's just enough light to make the purple anthers pop out of the blossom. Lovely and elegant.
