Now I don't know why it is called that because it does not grow in Iceland - but it was a rich buttery yellow color. They are blooming now in my area.

Trixxie, I clicked to enlarge this one and then spread it open even further, and was then surprised by what I saw. The petals on this particular flower are what I would term ^soft^, and therefore do not hold themselves up as well as, oh, say a tulip would, in a distinctly tulip shape. This also makes the petals sometimes look as though they are not in focus... when the actually are. There is a ^Morning Has Broken^ rose bush in my backyard, and the blossoms have a rather indistinct shape, each one looking as though it has been blown over by a strong wind. When I enlarged your buttery blossom to where I saw mostly stamen and pistil, the resulting macro of a storm of windswept pistil and stamen was rather amazing. Such a strong contrast to the full image. Perhaps people are not commenting here because they are not looking closer at this hidden gem. I might suggest you try a more tight crop, posting it as something like ^Buttery Pistil^ or something. If possible maybe even return to the flower for a central macro? For many years I have been a proponent of the concept of ^a photo within a photo^, and that is definitely true of your capture here.

Best wishes,
-nik

Kathy, I can see, from his extensive commentary, that 'Nik' has carefully studied your, anyhow beautiful, photograph. An example to follow. However, the reality is that, often due to a lack of time, people are 'forced' to look at the photograph quickly. Giving comment is in such a case often a bridge too far.
Too bad, but it is inherent in this hasty world.
