This particular color seemed to have many variations within the same group - but they still have that navy blue center I like so much.

Back in 1973 I found myself scuba diving in Tokyo Bay. About 30 feet down I reached bottom and the first thing I saw, in that very dark water (at mid-morning), was a sea cucumber. They are shaped like their land-locked cousins, except much fatter, and come in a wide variety of colors and patterns. The one I saw utilized all the colors in the center of these flowers. Not packed as tight as your blue tips here, my cucumber was covered with bright blue dots, all spread out about a half to an inch apart, and atop about a dozen 2 to 3-inch black stalks were bright gold tips. That sea ^cuke^ was the first thing that popped into my mind when I enlarged your photo. Above or below the surface, Mother Nature is the original classic artist. It falls to us to record that art, Kathy, and it is obvious that you are well suited in being one of those recorders.

Happy Trails
