If you think you can't accept something, try to change it. But if this doesn't work, don't be frustrated, but give it later another try. The one who perseveres wins!

Years ago we were having a big family campout, and I developed a toothache (this was back when I had teeth to speak of), and a brother-in-law, a high school agriculture teacher, pulls up a coneflower to expose its large white central root. He cleans off the dirt, cuts an inch-long portion of it off, and then peels the white outer surface away, revealing a soft and solid black root. He tells me to place it between my cheek and the offending tooth and wait for the results. In about a minute I can feel it going numb and the pain subsiding!! Holy Mackinoly! Handy information for when you are prone to dental pain and far from a dentist. He said the source of his medicinal information about the coneflower came from trappers and settlers learning about it from Native Americans. Beautiful and useful. A handy flower to have around.
