My son was out snow-shoeing and spotted this so he took me back there. Yes, it was -6 and we were laying in the wet ice and snow to get the shot, but we were dressed for it. This formation fell into the water soon after so I was glad we got there when we did! It's great how the family gets into this hobby of mine.

Wonderful shot! Blurring the background stronger would possibly perform a little bit better but anyhow it's a really great shot!

This is really amazing, Hilda. I'm very curious as to how the dripping did the hour glass shape. Day and evening tempertures maybe? Excellent capture however they were formed ;)

I bet you'll never see another formation like this one again, and you're right. It's wonderful to get a call or a message saying...you gotta see this one!! Congrats to your son for spotting this and for you to take the time to check it out and see and share the beauty with all of us. I think it's fine desktop material..In fact, I know it is!! :)

I see the good eye runs in the family.... Very nice shooting! Didn't you feel satisfied when that lovely ice fell in but you had captured it! Beautiful....
