The Official 2010 Caedes.net Calendar

Submitted by caedes 11/22/09 8:31 PM GMT

This is a call for images for the 2010 calendar. I hope to have the calendar ready for sale before December, so we need to get going on this project. Here is a page which has more details and a form to use to submit your image nominations. I'm really looking forward to giving these out this year as gifts, so if you've ever wanted your work in print or you want to show off your work to the family every single day of the year get your images nominated ASAP.

Great to hear the caedes calendar will be back again! We have alot of new excellent artists since our last calendar so looking forward to some wonderful images. Do you have a tentative deadline in mind for submitting images? I tried uploading two but not sure if the upload was successful as there was no confirmation...the form just went blank...then, when I tried 3 times to upload a third image I got a blank page that said error #4509385.

Edit: Ok, I believe I managed to submit one by first choosing the smaller version in my gallery then submitting the larger resolution...does that mean the image must currently be in your gallery? I have some images in mind that were once in my gallery but I have since removed them.

Yes, the images have to be currently on the website, or you will have to upload them to the normal galleries before adding them to the calendar.

Why are we limited to only nominating our own images? I'd much rather nominate someone else's that I feel is superior.

the problem with nominating other peoples images is that they may not want them to be printed or used like that :-)

Nikoneer: one of the reasons that the images must be nominated by the owner is that their permission is required before they can be published.

Okay. You're right. My images get published quite often and I just forgot about the copyright issues.

The images have to be as large as possible (at least 1280 x1024). But my uploaded images with a resolution of 1600x1200 are not big enough?

What a great Ideo of the calendar! I will order one immediatly :).

If your image is at least 2M pixels in size, then you don't have to upload a print version. However, it is encouraged because even 1600x1200 isn't very large when it comes to print.

Yes, of course it is better, but I can't upload an image with this resolution. It gives me a 'warning' in red, but if I click on 'submit' I receive an error.

The red warning is saying that you have to upload a print version. If you get a red warning and don't upload a print version, then it will give you an error.

Once it shows your submitted images and no red flags came up, then we are good to go? Upload print version is optional?

What a wonderful calendar the fine images here will make. There could actually be many different types of calendars in various categories with all the fine work here.

Rachel, you will just have to keep checking back here for the details for ordering. When you can get one depends on when the calendars are ready. As stated, we hope it will be before December!

@ Jhihmoac: I assume that the calendars that are produced will depend on the images nominated. If enough quality non-photographic images were nominated then a calendar would probably be produced consisting of them. As I recall last time there was at least one calendar made up of fractal images.

So what is the largest size we can post these? You said this in the info about the calender "After images are selected for the calendar you will be able to send us a high resolution, uncompressed version of your image(s). "

I think I figured it out, with the help of a friend. Thanx tho

You may post all 5 at the same time Verena, just one by one. The directions will pop up on the screen.

Hope this helps :)

I'm confused - most of my images on Caedes are too small for this project but I have the larger versions in my PC. If I upload them again won't they be in my gallery twice? Or does the print version go somewhere else?

Dave, there is a browse button on the 'upload larger version' box which allows you to browse your computer, choose your image and then upload it directly for the Calendar.

It will not be uploaded to the site.

Hope this helps!

I've gone through the first round of cuts to the nominated images. So far it looks like we will have enough for at least one calendar. You can go to the image nomination page to see if any of your images remain. If so, then they were accepted for the first round. If images are missing, then you can try to nominate a different image. I will probably finalize the list of images this week.

I had posted a couple photo originally, and they are no longer in caedes gallery, does a photo have to be in my gallery at this time? Or do I need to post one, if it's not here, and then submit it?

Any image that you want to nominate needs to first be in your normal caedes gallery.

Caedes - you mentioned going to the image nomination page to see if any of our submitted images have passed through the first round. I'm dense I guess because I can't find that page. I can find the page to nominate images as I have uploaded some - but can't find the page to view what has been accepted. Or am I once again interpreting things incorrectly?

If your image is still listed on the image nomination page, then it passed the first acceptance process.

I uploaded - or a least thought I did - only print size versions of images. I never got any confirmation that I was successful but I did get error messages when I wasn't. They certainly appeared to have uploaded but I never saw anything on the nomination page to reflect receipt. If I was unsuccessful then I'll try again next time as it's likely a bit late now. I guess my confusion is due to the fact that I never saw anything on the page to let me know the pics made it. Always possible that they simply weren't what Caedes is looking for and I can live with that. I guess what I'm so poorly trying to say is that with being unsure if my nominations were successfully uploaded I've been left confused -

tee...if you notice my first post at the top of the page, you'll notice that I had the same problem at first too then I figured it out. If you uploaded a print size image on the nomination page you don't get a confirmation in the same way you do when you upload a regular image to the new images gallery but you should see thumbnails of the images you uploaded if you just scroll down the nomination page abit...then after caedes decides what cuts he wants to make you may notice some of those thumbnails missing...the ones that remain mean they have made the first cut...hope this helps.
